COVID-19 : Yahya Bello orders closure of school and bans public gathering

The Kogi state governor Yahya Bello, in measures to contain and prevent the spread of the CoronaVirus has ordered the closures of public and private schools. Which includes tertiary, secondary and primary schools.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed in lokoja on friday. She said the closure of public schools and other public gathering places will take effect on Monday 23, 2020. As the governor also banned any form of public gathering that involves more than 30 people.
According to Yahya Bello, the measures became imperative given the strategic location of the state which served as transit point for travellers connecting various parts of the nation. His statements reads,
“As part of its preparedness, the state government has set up an isolation centre in Lokoja, the state capital and an Emergency Response Team has been constituted too. At the moment, sensitisation and awareness are being created on the disease through the media as well as in parks, markets and community levels,” it said.
