John Obi Mike: there is more to life than football

The Nigerian former Captain John Obi Mikel, who has always been know to be highly opinionated, has condemned the ongoing turkish super lig. As a result, he could pay a bigger price than the termination of his contract.
This is the quality that endured him through the national team and made him a good captain to nigeria for many years. In which from time to time it has caused some fuss between him and the Nigerian football federation. As his willingness to speak his mind no matter what has been regarded as evidence of lack of respect. The former champions league winner, is once again suffering from personal injury for speaking out his mind in face of the administration. This time his club Trabzonspor, has taken an offence for his comments declaring the lack of sensitivity by the Turkish football authority to the ongoing CoronaVirus pandemic.
With the world spinning around on this Pandemic, the super lig, still commences behind closed doors.
It is against this backdrop that Mikel took the Instagram to say his mind, stating he did “not feel comfortable…play(ing) football in this situation” and that “everyone should be at home with their families and loved ones in this critical time.”
“There is more to life than football,” he wrote.
In the end, both parties’ decision to part ways. Any pretence of it being amicable is pretty much shattered by the fact that Mikel will receive no compensation, and agreed to forgo any other bonuses.
