Niger state government imposes ban on street begging

The commissioner for information Alhaji muhammad Sani Idris, imidiately after the  State executive council meeting Held at the government house today disclosed that after the banning of street begging by other state that Niger state has become a dumping ground for beggers as it will affect the security infrastructure in the state.


Any offender cought street begging, will now be caught and prosecuted, Daily Trust Reports.


As he further noted that the ban will not affect the almajiri sytem of the state. As children caught begging will be taken back to their parent who would be prosecuted while the adults will proscuted directly. He also said the council has approved the domestication of criminal code law in the state, as agreed upon by the attorneys general of the 19 northern state.
